Erica D’Arcangelo Will Not Publish AI As Her Own

Erica D’Arcangelo runs Love Content Development and has worked across companies that have collectively generated a very large amount of contracted revenue. She has a line she will not cross, and she frames it as an artist rather than as a strategist.

I Would Feel Very Compromised Using AI

Erica D'Arcangelo quote card stating she would feel very compromised using AI for something she put out as her own work.

“That is something that I, as an artist, would feel very compromised if I used AI for something that I was putting out as my own work.”

Erica D’Arcangelo, Love Content Development

Worth reading the qualifier carefully. The objection attaches to work published as her own. It is a claim about authorship and attribution, not a blanket refusal of the tool.

That distinction is the one most policy documents fail to make, which is why most of them are unenforceable.

Leading With Reader Benefit, Not Volume

A content planning board where each card is scored on reader benefit and creativity rather than monthly publishing quota.

“And so I really lead with, you know, how can this content benefit the reader and how can we be creative with it?”

Erica D’Arcangelo

Two questions, asked in that order, before anything is commissioned. Benefit first, creativity second. Neither is a volume question, and that is the point.

Her example of unpredictability is instructive: a video with 64 million views that nobody would have forecast, from something simple enough to have been shot a million times. You do not know until you put it out there.

Not How Can We Publish A Million Posts

“Not like how can we publish a million posts this month?”

Erica D’Arcangelo

The contrast she is drawing is between a planning conversation organised around output and one organised around effect. Both produce a content calendar. Only one of them produces something a reader would miss.

Building A Client Relationship Around That Line

The practical question this raises for any freelancer or agency is what happens when a client asks for the volume play anyway. Having the line stated up front — in the proposal, not in the argument three months later — is what makes it survivable.

More on the working reality of this in SEO agency life and freelancing, more on content thinking in content strategy and marketing deep insights, and the full catalogue in the episode guide.
